Summer in Melbourne

Summer in Melbourne is hot, I tell you. The weather is exactly like Malaysia, minus the humidity, meaning, it’s hot… but you don’t sweat… weird huh. Always bring a bottle of water out with you when you go out. The mouth dries pretty quickly. Oh, and you must put lotion, with UV protection. Skin cancer is Australian’s number 1 cancer. I think it’s because there are so little clouds here. The sky is almost cloudless most of the days. No clouds to filter the UV light. It’s nice in a way that you can always see blue blue sky. But this year, Australia is facing it’s 5th consecutive year of drought. No rain.

We have done a little sightseeing in the city. Just a little. We walked along the Yarra River, which runs right through Melbourne city. It’s nice to see people walking their dogs, kayaking in the river, sitting at the banks drinking a cup of coffee, and all this happening at 2-3pm in the afternoon. If we were to do this in Malaysia, people will say “Siao ah!” Here, it’s a norm. And the air here… I agree with everybody, it sure smells fresh!
