Praise God! We’ve got a place. Yesterday, the agent called us and said the owner wants a higher rental price. $10 more than our budget per week. If we don’t want it, she will call other applicants who are willing to pay the higher price. I told her I’ll call her back. Broke the news to Mat, and we both had mixed feelings in the beginning. Both happy and slightly disappointed. Happy because at least 1 of our application got a reply from an agent. Disappointed because the price is over budget. So we crashed our heads and started calculating our budgets again, adding food, bills, transportation, etc… We didn’t have the guts to say a firm NO because there’s no guarantee we can get the other places that we applied. We didn’t have the guts to say a firm YES either, because it was eating into our budget.
Then we started to count the pros and cons.
Pros:
1. The apartment is very near the Uni. Mat can save on transportation by cycling ( that is when he’s fit enough to cycle and no other gout attacks).
2. The apartment is also very near shops and clinics and pharmacies and hospitals.
3. The apartment is surrounded by parks, very nice surrounding.
4. This is the only call we got back from all our other applications.
Cons:
1. It’s over budget.
2. It’s electricity heated (the bills will be very nice to pay during winter)
3. The size of the apartment is extremely tiny (all the other ones we’ve seen are tiny anyway, so if you come visit us, I’ll prepare a nice bath tub bed
… hehehe… just kidding… will get a sofa bed)
Tough decision. We’ve finally decided, just go ahead with it! Just do it! So I put up a brave front, and called back the agent, and said YES!
I can’t believe we’ve got a place!!!! So we’re getting the keys tomorrow morning, and will start moving stuffs in slowly. As for the internet, it’s under application, so will only get it by 5-10 days. Patience on my side and your side
Praise God for His providence! Happy moving in
congratulation! finally, u hav make it!
dont worry, mat will b healthier after cycling for 3-5 yrs there…:P gambatte, mat!
Great to hear that you both are finally settling down!
Yes I agree with ilka on the cycling part, I am also making it a point to cycle around the office if I am not going out for any appointments…but it’s a bit life-threatening to cycle in Malaysia though…
Real estate agents always use this same trick to force people to make decisions…maybe after the contract expires, you might be familiar enough to get a better bargain!
