We haven’t been everywhere in Melbourne yet, but we have explored some places here and there in the city. While we were staying with my cousin, my cousin wanted to bring us to see fireballs display in front of Crowne Plaza. Crowne Plaza is the Genting of Melbourne. When my cousin dropped us there to find a parking, we were just in time to see the last fireball shoot up. But not in time for me to pull out the camera. Anyways, there’s always a next time. But I did manage to take a landscape picture of Melbourne City at night.
Nice eh? Yesterday, we went out to the city again. It was a public holiday, because last Saturday, was Australia Day. In Australia, any public holiday which falls on a Saturday, is replaced on Monday. We also intended to visit the BMW Hydrogen 7 exhibition. I’m not sure if Mat will blog about that. My feedback of the exhibition?… dissappointment. Here are some pictures of the city during the day time.

The few skyscrappers of the city

You will never miss Flinders Station. It’s the only yellow coloured building in the middle of the city. Every tram and train has to pass through this area. Before we moved to our own place, Mat has to see this building everytime on his way to Uni.
Melbourne is the only city in Australia who has trams running in the city. No where else in Australia has trams. If I’m not mistaken, there are 3 versions of trams. The 1st version is the very very historical looking tram. We take those kind of trams normally after church to go to Richmond. This photo above here is the 2nd version. Then there’s the newest version, more modern looking. The trams here are pretty punctual, and it stops at every kilometre I think. When you buy a tram ticket, you can also use the same ticket on the bus and train, and vice versa. 1 ticket for all public transport. There are a few types of tickets you can buy, one way, two ways, weekly, 5 day tickets, 2hour x 10 tickets, monthly tickets, Sunday Savers… all to suit your needs
Picture above is Federation Square (when there is nothing special going on). When there’s something special, this place is packed. Fed Square is just next to Flinders Station.
There’s an art gallery inside, but we didn’t go in. But there was this glass intruments display inside the Fed Square. Pretty interesting. They have glass xylophones too.
And at the side of Fed Square, runs the Yarra River.
Normally when it’s a public holiday or some special event, sometimes there’s this “clown” who perform and they really attract big crowds. After their performance, they’ll go around collecting money.

This “clown” tried to chop off the kid’s arm
On our way back, we were very lucky to catch this Flying Trapeze performance at the road side. Mat kept wondering who’s paying for their performance. Dunno… but as long as we’re entertained
