Have you ever dread cleaning the kitchen because all the kitchen tops are so oily, and especially if you use canola oil or sunflower oil like me, the oil is sooooo sticky that cleaning is a pain?! I’ve tried using the dish washer, and used the branded cleaning products… the oil stain is so tough that is sticks there like dried up glue.
Well… FORGET about those products! I have a humble WONDER cleaner! Baking soda!

Bicarbonate soda, look at my tiles, as white as pearls… ceh wah…
Baking soda, aka bicarbonate soda, yes, the one you use to make cakes… is the best cleaning product ever!!! If you don’t believe, you try it yourself. Just mix the powder with water into a paste, and use your sponge/scourer and start cleaning your kitchen tops, especially the really oily parts. Can’t express the satisfaction that I got. I even tried it on the bathroom tiles, you know those grout, between the tiles, those brownish dirt… just mix the bicarb soda with water into a paste, use your an old toothbrush and scrub. It comes off so easily. Don’t need to scrub like mad! Before this, I used the proper product to wash the bathroom grouts, I still had to scrub until I had sore muscles. I wish I found out about this when I moved in, it would have been so much easier!
In addition, it’s darn cheap! And best of all, it’s not a harmful chemical. Some cleaning agents when you smell it you can faint. This one, no smell at all. And my hands… seems like gentle on the skin too, so far so good. Plus… you can use it for baking.
Try it to believe it!
p/s This post really sounds like an advert huh…
thanks for sharing this tip with me.. i too face the same problem when cleaning the bathroom tiles.. you’re right some of the cleaning agents is so suffocating.. and requires gloves and all.. troublesome.. i’ll definitely go and buy a packet of bicarbonate soda and try it at home
