You know, when we first started our journey on the Great Ocean Road, our expression is like this:
WAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Abit like “sua ku”.
Then when you reach the first stop, which is Gibson Steps, then you will go
WAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
again.
When I was just looking out into the ocean and the powerful waves pounding on the cliffs, and the wind blowing from inland, and just the sheer vastness of the sea, it reminds me of the song Ocean, by Ten Shekels, especially the chorus:
Something about the ocean
Makes me rise up and praise
Something about the heavens
makes me stand in awe again
Something about the sunrise
Reminds me of Your faithfulness
Something about the ocean
And I’m lost in love again
You can’t avoid but to be in awe of God’s creation.
You don’t just see rocks and the sea along the way. Being asians, you don’t see cows which are black and white in colour and sheeps and lambs lying around in Malaysia. So our “sua-ku-ness” came out again when we saw the cows and sheeps grazing lazily along the way.
While on the road, Mathias thought he saw a very uniquely named road. So when we passed that part of the road again, it is indeed uniquely named.
Just imagine somebody asking which street you live on… “Wait-a-while”, “Ok, so what’s the name of the street you live on?”, “Wait-a-while!”.
And if they ever build a hospital on that road, it will be called “Wait-a-while hospital”. I wouldn’t want to go to that hospital…
Be on a vigilant lookout for koalas! We were very very lucky indeed to easily spot them in the wild. Koalas by nature is only awake for 1 and a half hours a day. The rest of the day they sleep!

Can you see something on the tree branch?
It’s because they eat Eucalyptus leaves, or gum tree. Gum trees are everywhere in Australia.
The picture below is not a gum tree. It’s just a very interesting tree i saw in one of the towns we stopped by. It’s like a gigantic version of bonsai.
Here we stopped by for ice cream!!!! Well I’m eating gelato by the way. It’s a more fruity kinda icecream. It was a windy day, but it wasn’t that cold.. and who wouldn’t resist a good 2 scoops of ice cream!
Nearing Lorne on our way back, we couldn’t be luckier! There was a small group of people standing on this bridge taking photos, not of themselves, but this poor koala who lost it’s way. It was sitting on the bridge posing nicely for you to take photos.
It got so near to me that it was just sitting one arm length away from me. We tried to lure it off the bridge, so it can get back safely on firm ground and climb the trees or something.
It nearly fell off the bridge ok. Whoa…. Lucky it didn’t.

wow! they certainly are a superbly gorgeous place, huh? Were there flies? When we were last there, it was swarming with the summer flies.. =P
Fortunately no flies! And no crowd too.
