Victoria Market nearing closing time is the best place to be! The deals are so good that you won’t believe your ears… and eyes. Last week we went to scout around and see what they’ve got. They got everything. Meat, poultry, vegetables, fruits, cheese, food, clothes, souveniers, etc. It’s like Pasar Malam, but this one opens nearly everyday. When it’s nearing closing time, the sellers will slash their prices until it’s so unbelievable.
So we went to Victoria Market again today, half an hour before closing time. Our aim is to buy fruits. We noticed the prices of meat there is not that cheap even after price slash. But the fruits are a good buy. These are what we’ve bought:
Nectarines: 1kg = $1, we bought 2kg
Tomatoes: 1kg = $0.80, 2kg = $1, but we just bought 1kg
Cherries: 1kg = $4, normal price in the supermarket 1kg = $12
We thought all these are really good deals already, until we walked further down… someone shouted… 1 BOX OF CHERRIES = 3 DOLLARS… our eyes nearly popped out, we couldn’t believe our ears. We were soooo tempted to get the whole box of cherries. Until we saw this…
1 WHOLE BOX OF KIWI = 2 DOLLARS!!!!!
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
Ok, we need to start eating our asses off with kiwis.
Hi Flora, glad to know that you have settled in well. Looking at the fruits remind me of my uni days. I used to buy a whole carton at this crazy price too. Can’t believe it is still @ this price with the current inflation there. Do enjoy lots of it while you are still there, it costs a bomb here to buy all these fruits. So envy…..
You can also try Springvale to get fresh groceries. It is almost like Richmond. They usually have seafood/meat cuts that we asians are used too. Their beef noodles are nice too, very aunthetic Vietnamese. Also……the broken rice, is very unique. Better stop before I tempt you further…….
Hi Joyce, I haven’t been to Springvale. But we’ve tried the broken rice in Richmond. The rice is really broken. Wonder why they got so much time to break it? hahahaha…
It is quite pricey to eat out. Minimum $8 per person per meal. But the portion is quite huge. Sometimes I need to “Ta pau” my leftovers.
wow! sounds so good!! fruits look gorgeous, guess you can make fruit smoothies everyday! =)

Sharon and Julia… I KNOW!!!!! We thought we’re already eating so healthy back in Cyber, with all the organic veges, but we never ate fruits everyday.
Now we’re like eating fruits with every meal!
