Went out for a movie – The Avengers, on Saturday morning.

I only realized there are 3 beautiful maple trees in the middle of the junction upon entering the road to my apartment last Friday. How could I miss these beautiful looking trees. I don’t know what pink flowers are those under the trees, but it’s everywhere in Pohang! Felt like it was their national flower or something.

Caught the bus to the city.

At the cinema. There are 2 cinemas in Pohang. CGV in Homeplus, and the other in Lotte. We went to the one in Homeplus because it is right next to the bus station, and it’s nearer. Fortunately Mat bought the movie tickets the day before because when we arrived at the cinema, the seat availability for this movie is Zero.

Buying a movie ticket online is ridiculously foreigner unfriendly. First, it’s all in Korean. So Mat had to ask for help from a Korean friend. So after signing in and chose the seats and etc… when Mat wanted to pay with his credit card, not allowed -_-

Can only be paid with a Korean debit card.

Darn… -_-

Our debit card is only arriving next week.

So… had to ask help from another friend to pay for us first.

At the cinema, you still have to line up at the ticket box. Show your printed proof of purchase, and then… they will print out only 1 ticket even though there are 5 of us watching.

The ticket price is reasonable, ~USD6 per person. This price is early bird price, because it’s shown before noon.

The cinema is absolutely COOLNESS!!! The chairs can vibrate so it’s almost a 4d experience, minus the 3d effects and glasses.

We didn’t have time to stop at the sweet bar because movie was about to start!

The Avengers… super awesomeness! I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Highly recommend the movie. My favorite character in this movie is undoubtedly The Hulk!

The 5 of us did not sit together, since we bought the ticket so late, and it’s such a hot movie, and it’s Children’s Day in Korea. So we manage to get seats where I could sit with Mat, and the other 3 sat together at a different row.

Thank God they don’t dub english movies to Korean.

I think the Korean lady who sat beside me fell asleep. There was even one time the people sitting in the row in front of us turned and looked at us wondering why we’re laughing so hard. I think the korean translation did not portray the joke properly.

Watched the movie with Mat’s colleagues. From left to right, Mew Bing (from Malaysia), Rayda and Roland (both from Philippines), and Mat of course.

After the movie, Mew Bing, who has been in Pohang for a year plus now, took us to this place for lunch.

She said it was recommended by some of her friends.

The owner speaks no english. Fortunately, Mew Bing knows some korean, but most of the time we’re like… erm… ahhh…. ehhh… but we managed to order some food. The owner said in Korean (which thankfully Mew Bing understood), that we’re all very clever. I’ll take that as a compliment ^_^

We ordered Korean BBQ.

The meat is cooked on a very thick marble plate.

The very brave group of people who walked into a korean restaurant with maybe less than 5% knowledge of the language:

After the meat is cooked, wrap it up with the leaves provided with all the other stuff they serve, then pop it in your mouth. This leave is sesame leaf. It has a slight mint taste to it, very nice! I like it!

The banchan (korean side dishes).

I would like to eat this again someday. I better start learning some Korean!
