Mat and I noticed the Americans in South Korea love to introduce which state they’re from, rather than generally, “I’m from the states”.
A typical intro conversation with an American will go like this:
Me: Hi. Where are you from?
American: Hi, I’m from Texas.
No offense, but sometimes I would like to reply them like this, and I would imagine a conversation like this:
Me: Hi. Where are you from?
American: Hi, I’m from Texas. You?
Me: Oh, I’m from Sarawak.
American: Where’s that?
Me: Well… I took all the trouble to remember where Texas is, so YOU should know where Sarawak is 😉
Look…. fellow Americans… I don’t really care which state you’re from… Texas, Ohio, Michigan or Pencilmania…. unless we ask specifically which state you’re from… just reply “the States, or America”. Ok? You’re not the only foreigners in this land.
This post is in no intention to offend anyone, but just a personal random observation. I still love you wherever you’re from :*
